E-Week 2009 Wrap Up

Our winning spirit in the year 2008 accompanied us all the way down the E-Week journey in year 2009 too. We had postured ourselves into the best possible form, and with joint team efforts we propelled ourselves to grab the top ranking among all colleges in 2008. We began working for next E-week in 2009 with enthusiasm more profound and goals more clearly.

Right from the beginning, that is from the inauguration day, our students and coordinators leaded our college into ventures of events of vivid forms. This year we had more competitions. Major competitors included talented students from NIT Durgapur with their team mates in our campus. With urgency of having a check on growing destruction to greenery on our earth, the E-week of year 2009 propagated with organization of events emphasizing on ‘Go-Green’ theme.

The walkathon that we organized helped us in reaching people out there around our campus. We reached the youth and people in slums and discussed with them about SOLAR PANELS. We reached auto and bus drivers through our CNG campaigns.

Other than the awareness programs for people, generating a possible benefits for them was also our motive. Solar panels were set in Amrita Nagar Slum, Durgapur. There were no street lights there and our ERPC cell decided to put up a solar panel for 100 houses funded through sponsors, Aditya Solar Shop, Durgapur and from funds generated by the cell. Around Rs. 70000/- were spent on that Solar project.

Our college’s auditorium was the venue for the most popular Go- Green quiz in which teams from BCET were against teams from NIT Durgapur. And not just that, the attractions followed other huge plethora of events too. Go Green debates and presentations saw huge participation. They emphasized on the use of nanotechnology, substitute to petroleum products and about recycling of wastes.
While Color filling events, on spot Rangoli, added color to the week’s atmosphere, the T-shirt designing competition aired the ideas of fashion all around. Essay writing event brought one of the finest pour outs on the Eco friendly agendas.

Every event helped our students to show their talent. They performed with their best and the judging committee decided the winners on the basis of their performance in respective events.
Putting stalls for display of models had been practiced the previous year too. In 2009 a group of students from B-Pharma opened a stall which offered few services like Blood pressure checking, blood group checking, hemoglobin count, and pulse checking. It attracted many eyeballs and it went in profit. Model display session saw some exciting new models by our students, by the use of the latest technologies available to make our environment sustainable.

How could the enrichment have occurred without seminars and workshops? We did have them.
A seminar on Eco-Entrepreneurship movement was held. The invited speakers were Mr. Prashant Kumar, Director of Syneygy Biotechnologies Ltd, Mr. Bimal Patwari, CEO in Pinacle Infotech and Mr. Utpal Dutta Chowdhury, Factory Manager, East India Pharmaceuticals. They discussed about ways to set goals and move forward, which should comply accordingly with eco-friendly measures.

The journey of seven days bought loads of things to learn, for us, for our students and for the society. The ‘Go-Green’ theme and our mode of its execution made us the champions again. We were successful to maintain our previous esteem. We were the first rank holders again in year 2009.
